Three Steps to a Simple, Concise Website Landing Page
February 28, 2025
Did you notice the picture that accompanied this article. The room was kind of cluttered, right? Do you think you could find what you are looking for in that room? Now, go back and take a long, hard look at the young woman in the picture? Do you notice anything about her eyes, the look on her face and her body language? Would you agree that she is looking a bit exasperated?
Now go take a look at your website’s landing page. What do you see there. Is it cluttered with announcements, events, random pictures, long paragraphs, pictures of your founders, your mission statement and anything else you can possibly fit into one tiny computer or mobile phone screen? If so, go back to the picture that accompanies this article and imagine your website visitors looking exactly like that!
We all want our website visitors to know how wonderful we are so they will want to work with us, buy from us, go to church with us or volunteer with us. This is important and there is a place for it. But not on your landing page. Save it for later. If you have what they want, they’ll stick around and read about how wonderful you are.
So…what do your visitors most need to see when they visit your landing page. It’s really quite simple. Your visitors only want to see three things when they visit your landing page, and all three of these must be stated clearly and concisely.
• What do you do?
• How does that help me?
• How do I get it?
If your visitors can’t answer these three questions within a matter of seconds, they’ll probably leave. But if they can answer these three questions and decide you have something of value to offer them, they will be much more willing to stick around to learn more about just how wonderful you are.
At Standout Arts, we don’t want to see your visitors shaking their heads, leaving your website and walking away. We are happy to do a free, no obligation analysis of your website. Let us help you declutter your landing page so your visitors will want to stick around because they will know simply and concisely:
• What you do
• How it will help them
• How they can get it
